About Farm Boy Brews
Inspired by a love of great coffee and a life long connection with the highs and lows of mental health, a Farm Boy in rural Scotland decided to combine the two and do some good along the way!
FBB founder James struggled with depression throughout his teenage years, and a turning point came in 2018 after several years working in the agricultural industry (hence the “Farm” aspect of the business). Living with and managing depression combined with rural isolation, loneliness and the uncertainty of the industry and his career took its toll, but thankfully he decided to reach out for help.
After some fantastic support and therapy from the local NHS services, James decided to set up Farm Boy Brews to talk about coffee, mental health, and rural life. From there, an idea grew and in 2019 ‘Depresso Espresso’, Farm Boy Brews’ first coffee was launched.
Since then, we have continued to grow, despite the best efforts of a global pandemic in 2020, and you can find our coffees in shops, cafés and holiday cottages around the country, as well as at local markets.
Currently, a portion of the profits of our Depresso Espresso house blend are donated to a mental health charity, and as the business grows we are looking to widen our support of mental health charities and services across Scotland.
Based in Dumfries and Galloway, South West Scotland, FBB wants to get people talking about mental health. A cause close to our hearts, and our brains, we believe that tackling the stigma starts with a conversation, and what better way to do that than over a cup of coffee?
